Power of Modesty'd philosophy
I have misread and misjudged this next generation, all because I believed what others thought cause you are an outsider. Even more than that, I believed that I was better than you … because I am a Christian. As much as we are different, we are also the same because this generation struggles like I do, trying to understand our culture’s past and present views.
If someone were to ask you to describe me, what would you say? You might say, “She’s a nice person.” But someone just might as well describe me as hypocritical, judgmental, a modern day Pharisee too afraid to come down off her self-righteous throne. But I don’t see myself that way at all.
What about you? How would others view you? Have you ever been misjudged?
We live in a world of false illusions. We’ve learned how to bend the truth to make things go our way; it’s a false front that we believe will give us the upper edge so we can get ahead in life. Even the church is filled with addictions of gambling and an immoral lifestyle. It’s my choice. Which lie do I choose?
The example that this mosaic generation has been given is not fair or accurate. The gap will continue to widen between the generations as long as we remain with our “us against them” mentality or the passive cop-out, refusing to take responsibility for any actions.
My generation has become so consumed by legalism and lies that we’ve forgotten that we stand for hope and a message of redemption. We preach about what were against, instead of showing love. We have forgotten that we were once lost and look down our noses shaking our heads while pushing the lost aside because they look different.
I am fed up with our anti slogans and bumper stickers that drive everyone from Jesus instead of to Him. This is what makes me and my generation no different than the Pharisees. The rules and waging our finger in the face of our next leaders … no wonder you’re angry and have turned your backs on us.
But my question for you is this. Now that I know who I really am, do you know who you really are? Have you misjudged me because of what others have said or done? Do you need a changed heart too?
Give me the opportunity to gain your trust and I will show you the real Jesus, the only One who can save me from myself, and He can save you too.
